One Day Implants!

Here at Dentalinc, we’ve been searching the web to see how other dental treatment providers advertise their services and attract customers.

One of the most common themes seem to centre on ’one day implants’ or the use of the word ’immediate/immediacy’. What does all this mean?

Let’s take ’one day implants’ first. If this means inserting an implant into a patient’s jaw in one day, then this is hardly a selling point as inserting a single implant should take no more than an hour from sitting in the dentist’s chair to leaving the clinic. We believe having 4 or more implants in one setting is pushing the patient’s comfort levels to the limit, so 1 day implants for patients needing a fair few implants is somewhat misleading.

Perhaps they mean within 1 day, they can insert the implant, add the abutment, take an impression, make and add the crown. Pretty impressive stuff, but it takes about 2 months for the implant to stabilise in the jaw bone and that’s just with the quality brands, cheaper low quality ones take longer. If this is the case, it’s a massive risk on the part of the clinic and massive distress for the patient if the implant does not stabilise!

Immediate implants – well, I would hope so! If you are booked in, I would expect the treatment to begin ’immediately’! They probably mean that an implant can be placed ’immediately’ after a tooth is extracted whereby the implant goes into the gap left by the root.  There is risk with a quality implant brands, we don’t want to know what the risk is with cheap, lower quality brands!

At this present time, the best brands and renowned dentists across the globe wouldn’t guarantee anything that is ’immediate’. Our advice is simple, don’t always believe what you read, do your research and ask lots of questions, after all it’s your mouth and your money.
